NPR's Alex Chadwick continues our N-P-R/National Geographic co-produced series "The Geographic Century." Seventy-years ago, archaeologists working in southern Iraq made a startling discovery: a domed room buried under thirty feet of sand and clay. Inside lay a hoard of treasure and the remains of 74 people -- all but six of them women, and all apparently ritually killed 5,000 years ago. of the National Geographic - NPR series, The Geographic Century.
